A KNOWING WITHOUT A KNOWER.
We all can know on a quiet walk in the woods, that all words coming from a binary either/or mind, apparently and maybe elaborately, describe and define life not as it is, but as we think it is. The thinker is the thought; the believer, the belief. The mind can only know the stuff of mind; the constantly changing phenomena which can be measured, described, and symbolically, albeit grossly, ‘known’ by the 6 senses. In their sensual, verbal, conditional, and traditional occupation of the mind’s foreground, one may miss the very subtle (because non-material) changeless noumena background that does not pass. The ISness of that non-experience we’re forced to word here as ‘awareness,’ to merely communicate.
BEING NO THING.
Subtle aware being is not any ‘thing‘ and can only be pointed to, and re-presented with limited word-smithing. The direct recognition of one’s infinite beingness cannot be merely conceptualized and believed, but, like the word ‘glass’ does not hold water, the believer is self-deceived unless and until, perhaps in silence, there’s a ceasing to believe there is a ‘person who already knows’. In the event of that paradigm shift, one may be graciously presented with the awareness of being aware, and note the obviousness of it all along.
CEASING TO BELIEVE.
That happens when one totally gives up conceptual, intellectual ju-jitsu; “Only don’t know,” as it’s said in Zen. Or the Astravaka Gitta: “Happiness belongs to that supremely lazy person who feels that even blinking is too much effort.” Or Nisargadatta: “Understanding brings silence, not speech.” There may come a glimpse, a timelessness, wherein one realizes the Mind’s constant, elegant parsings fall way short of directly knowing, and that peace beyond understanding wonderfully presents. In silence, there’s no wordy tale, no teller. In fine, to know it is to be it. Some call that awareness love, loving itself…whatever! Love, and be well.
