A QUIET MIND.

“One can see the necessity of a brain that is quiet – the nerves quiet, relaxed, but tremendously taut, in the sense alive and highly sensitive. This is essential. You cannot do this through drugs, tricks, the repetition of words, or going into ecstasies. When the mind is completely quiet, right through, such a mind can live. It has a movement entirely different from the movement in time.”
~* J Krishnamurti
There’s no trying, no trier, no doer and nothing to be done. A quiet mind happens in still, sensitive and subtle listening. In that attending, one may note that there’s “the Ten Thousand Things” of classic Taoist understanding of what Is, here and now, such as: mind’s variously insistent compulsions, habitual impulses, beliefs, likes, dislikes, concerns and conflicts piling, spiraling into worries, stories, dramas, fears – all of these movements of ‘personhood’ are openly watched and diminished if not yet totally dissolved in and by that awareness. (At any time, the Old Mind can be poked and a reaction can and does occur, but less and less; i.e. hate almost never happens, anger arises and surprises on rare occasions. 😉 And there’s always these throbbing, pulsing physical sensations rising and falling; there’s an acute and alert I AM aliveness that’s totally received, that’s obviously, bodily, so; and there’s a spontaneous flowering in aware being that’s not limited to and located in, the body only; it is expanded, spacious, global. There is in reality no inside, no outside, no boundaries in Oneness. This – that awareness one is – flows freely, fully, completely as life. In fine, awareness never varies; it is pure, elemental and infinite life itself, so to speak.
The mind’s movements (usually ) are smooth, steady, settled, resting and relaxed; there’s an effortless attending to a full panorama of all that’s now arising; sounds, breathes, sniffles, little aches and sensations; a gentle flowing of an easeful presence that is in some strange instinctive and non-instinctive way, ‘sniffed, sipped and savored’ richly. To say more here, in words and reflections, seems to stimulate the mind toward thinking, assessing, qualifying, so I’ll stop here, now, and let silence swell like a perfume that hangs in the air. Ah, love.
* All words poetic or prosaic are mind-made symbolic pointing’s – sketching’s that variously represent, touch-upon, taste yet tell one nothing that is this – this timeless living beingness that one cannot know by human space/time, subject/object ‘knowledge’, but may, with grace in quietude, present itself-to-itself as that which mind may recall later as an instant knowing – an intuitive, innocent and un-wounded Being; an Infinity which includes, is non-attached, and Meta – ‘beyond, after and behind’ all sensation, conception and perception. This that is. 🙂
~* Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of all poems,
You shall possess the good of the earth and sun, (there are millions of suns left,)
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books,
You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me,
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self.
