[ attention and mystery, dept. ]
When attention rests on itself, there is awareness:
clarity, delight and gratitude. Love.
‘Attention rests on itself’ is yet another rather poetically worded way of saying ‘Awareness is aware of itself only; it ‘rests’ in and on, itself. Awareness, being beyond the finite body/brain experience of phenomena that changes, is the changeless ground of being (noumena, source) which one ultimately is. In deepening self-knowing, one recognizes that nonpersonal awareness is one’s abiding nature. It’s the indescribable and undisturbable infinity which is aware of itself only. Indeed, only awareness is aware. All else is a passing illusion.
In awareness – in loving our Self – we love the mystery. We move from ‘knowing’ – from accumulations of the mind – to the ease and grace of profoundly not knowing. In fine, in the subtle, we find we are the mystery. 🙂
