Does belief create the believer?

Belief seemingly creates or conjures the believer, the story creates the storyteller. In truth, in deep inner exploration along the line of inquiry “who am I, really?” there may be the disturbing discovery that there is no separate entity – no believer or person, no story or story-teller – to be found.
The supposed ‘person’ is just a bundle of stories, believed; an accumulation in memory of culturally conditioned desires and fears arising from the body/mind’s born insecurities. Of course, it’s instinctive need to be safe is natural and necessary for survival, but that need to be safe gets corrupted and ‘ampted up’ when, as one grows from innocent babyhood, there’s a gradual losing of that innocence – the boy/girl form takes on a name and a psychological personhood that needs to be accepted in and by its environment: its parents, peers and collectively cultivated ways of seeing and functioning in the particular culture it is born and bred in – that ‘known’ world it needs to know and believe and somehow control, in order to be safe and to prosper…
There’s much more here, but the drift of what’s said is that when there’s a deep and deepening love for truth, a subtle listening and learning and opening happens to arise that leads – with grace – to the direct realization that one is not what one thinks or believes one is. In truth – in direct unfiltered insight – what one in reality is, is infinite awareness, aka love, peace, beauty and joy. 🙂
