ESSENTIAL SPIRITUAL CLIMATE CHANGE.
It seems all our scientific heads are insufficient to effect the core change that only real inner knowing, arising from our individual and collective spiritual hearts, can bring about.
Perhaps the world is beginning these days to get fired up beyond more than its physical preservation and to address the underlying cause-of-causes as a trifecta that’s ecological, psychological, and, behind it all, essentially spiritual. To move and be moved beyond the seemingly separate struggles of seven billion inhabitants who traditionally think life is all about ‘me’ and ‘mine’, heaven and hell; to be prodded, pulled and pushed beyond the traditional, the established, the rituals of belief.
I’ve particularly used the term “Essential Spiritual” here to indicate that the major emphasis of humanity’s current approach to resolving climate change is not to really change, but to restore by returning to ideas of material sustainability as the organic panacea that will save us from becoming just the fifth burning hot rock from the sun. These days, many, if not most, believe that the nature of that sustainability is to become much more fully engaged in healing and maintaining the ecology of plants to save the planet, so to speak. While that approach and activity is relevant and necessary, it is not in itself sufficient nor sustainable.
Courage is a form of fear.
~ J Krishnamurti
At bottom, it seems all our scientific, fearful heads are insufficient to provide the core change that only real inner knowing arising from our individual and collective spiritual hearts can bring about.
What is perhaps required to begin healing the planet is not just sustainable methods of material preservation but the essential restoration of the immaterial – the supra-human, ie beyond me-centered sustainability, to a direct relationship to reality itself; to the actual, the non-personal factual. To the perceptual environmental recognition that to survive and prosper, mankind must make the giant mental leap from gross material consumption for security and personal preservation, to the subtle potency of deep inner self-knowing; to acting from, with and as, that which one ultimately IS – that sublime Oneness of our real, totally interdependent and shared being-nature. To no longer react from yesterday’s conditioning, but to actually act from the collective core of humanity’s restorative being – peace, beauty, joy and compassion.
These days, all we essentially need to change the climate hereabouts is to deepen and broaden self-knowing and to act from love.
