IS THERE A ‘ME’ WHO IS AWARE?
” ‘Me being aware,’ is a contradiction – I observe, I am the observer and there is the thing observed – a contradiction, duality, conflict, and all the rest of it. So there must be an attention which is not induced, which is not the result of wanting to find out and I therefore attend. There must be attention. My ‘concern’, in quotes, is to find out what this attention is. To find out – nobody can tell me. And yet I mustn’t become insane, unbalanced about this attention. I must find out what this quality of attention is. I see that the quality of attention that is trying to find out is quite different from the attention that comes out of emptiness.”
~ The word ‘Emptiness’ means empty of a me, a self, a person; that spacious empty beingness is nothing else but pure attention – timeless awareness, aware only of itself as fact and yet also, paradoxically aware of, and unattached to, all that’s passing in time, in the body/brain sensations that produce the experience the conditioned brain believes is a ‘person’ called ‘me’, and an apparent other labeled ‘you’.
In overturning the boulders of Belief, we find the Authority behind our need to believe is fear. No belief, no fear.
Awareness is simple, clear, choiceless, and thus intimate; it has no opinions, no oppositions; it includes all the fumbles and foils we humans are err to, apparently. Awareness knows nothing that’s not itself; it’s empty of all identity and full of life. It is life. In fact, life is aware, with and without its seemingly personal acknowledgement. There is no life – no Creation – without awareness of it.
One who has beliefs, systems, and knowledge to hold is held, confined to a personal, mind-made world. Look, see & be free.
In non-personal truth, aka reality, there is no separation; all is one changeless spirit (noumena, energy), apparently coming and going in multiple, changing material (phenomenal) expressions. When one knows one’s inner nature is non-personal love, beauty, peace, and joy, one knows, ipso facto, human nature. In that direct, non-experiential knowing, compassion – love, loving – presents, delights, and wonders. 🙂
