Is this the world of my making?
“Why should you need courage to observe what is actually going on? You donโt have to have courage when you have toothache โ you go to the dentist. Similarly, when you are facing the catastrophe out there, which each one of us has created, will you become aware that you are responsible for it?
None of us want to feel that responsibility, global responsibility. Your consciousness is not yours, it is the global human consciousness. So if you are concerned with the tragedy of this world, the misery, confusion and sorrow of human beings, then you are involved in resolving it, not playing with words and theories. You are concerned, you care, you are responsible for all that you do.”
J Krishnamurti
In daily living in time and space, with deepening self-knowing, one sees that what one thinks and believes completely shapes experience, relationship, and world. Indeed, it’s as true today as H D Thoreau said well over a hundred years ago: “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Why does the load of mankind’s suffering keep being repeated? Perhaps that’s the teaching one needs?
It seems in these days of unsustainable living, we’re really beginning to finally meet this moment, to smell the rubber as it meets the road here and now! Some of us are being driven to take the socially conditioned blinders off that apparently separate, and to really see that as K said: “You are the world and the world is you.” To actually embrace reality; to lovingly engage what is, and not so habitually react as act; to move in subtle ways that restore and heal, first in one’s inner ‘world’ and then to abandon conditioned, personal reactions and to let what one is – nonpersonal love – do all the heavy lifting.
In aware, loving action, all is well. ๐
