LIVING AND AGING IN PEACE IN DIFFICULT TIMES
FADING IN THE LIGHT
This little book (72pages) may serve to ease and comfort readers in these extreme times who are increasingly isolated, confusedly aging and despairingly anxious. Perhaps, when they’ve finished reading it they will see, feel and be touched more deeply with non-dual insights that inform as they ease; that introduce them to themselves – and the real love, peace, joy and beauty of it all. 🙂
Preface
Like a specter that emerges out of the primal mist of mystery and becomes more apparent as it approaches, this book takes on new appearances, spontaneously and continuously re-forming itself. Like life, it’s never finished, while always, in a direct knowing sense, already complete. That is the paradox: the flow of each day brings new inspiration and new material to the writing of this short piece on aging and death. Much of the material presented here circles around the same themes with variations: the apprehension of the timeless in time; the knowing of reality and truth beyond our conventional and traditional ways of thinking and interpreting what is truly real.
Like the river of life and death, it rambles along in places, preferring now to loiter on the life side of the river bank picking flowers and then, suddenly, to turn its gaze and linger on the death side across the river. In any case, the story is about both sides of the same river and always, ultimately, about the oneness of love.
All roses fall prey to December.
All intellect falls prey to love’s glory.
Since the rose is not eternal
Why be captured by its scent?
Now be silent.
Let the One who creates the words speak.
He made the door.
He made the lock.
He also made the key.
Rumi
