MIND – THE SIXTH SENSATION, AND LOVE
.
~ It’s snowing here on Vancouver Island and the world outside my window is brilliant white and the adorned trees are especially graceful, towering and majestic. Seems like a good time to sit with a cuppa, to set off deeper into exploring the woods of the mind, and perhaps pause to look at love as a sensation. As usual, I don’t know where this is going to go, but let’s start with a few inspiring quotes all from J Krishnamurti, and see what happens! 🙂
“Love is not of the mind; but when the mind takes over, there is sensation, which it then calls love…When sensations predominate, there is no space for love; so the things of the mind fill the heart.”
The brain/mind, in and of itself, is not original; it’s a totally conditioned and limited instrument that as the saying goes, makes a good servant but a poor master, yes. It’s programed, prejudiced and often petty..and it’s ‘me’ – or so it seems when it’s believed. 😉
~The body/mind, born-nature functions with not five but six sensations: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, and thinking; the first five act together to apparently render an objective ‘world’ experience; the sixth sensation – thinking – produces thoughts which inform all the other senses. Thought sensations in the human brain are binary (0-1) either/or (dual) in their nature; they become, in time, culturally conditioned to distinguish and label experience as good/bad, right/wrong, etc. These beliefs conjure, shape and inform the experience and the experiencer.
“Love is neither personal nor impersonal; love is a state of being in which sensation as thought is wholly absent”.
These beliefs – taken together – seem to create the ‘person’ having its ‘personal’ me/mine experience. All sensational experience comes and goes in time and space; behind and beyond all that apparent activity lies – realized or not yet realized – pure awareness which – being timeless – neither comes nor goes, and which in fact is one’s unborn nature – this Infinity which is one’s alert, choicelessly aware being: peace, beauty, love and joy..there’s the wonder on a snowy day! 🙂
