PEACE IN MIND IS PEACE IN HEART.

~ Here’s an innovative and perhaps inspiring combination of quotes on peace from Nisargadatta Maharaj and J Krishnamurti as if they were in the same room with enquiring friends. Enjoy!
Maharaj: You can have for the asking all the peace you want.
Q: I am asking.
M: You must ask with an undivided heart and lead an integrated life.
Q: How?
M: Detach yourself from all that makes your mind restless. Renounce all that disturbs its peace. If you want peace, deserve it.
J Krishnamurti: Ideals and utopias offer means of escape from actually what is, which is, the human mind is violent. Let us face it, understand it, not in time, gradually, but actually look at it now, understand it very clearly.
Q: Surely everybody deserves peace.
M: Those only deserve it, who don’t disturb it.
Q: In what way do I disturb peace?
M: By being a slave to your desires and fears.
JK: You can only understand it when the observer is not there because the observer is the very essence of prejudice. Therefore the observer divides. Observe without division, without asking, without creating the opposite of violence, just to look at violence in oneself.
M: Emotional reactions, born of ignorance or inadvertence, are never justified. Seek a clear mind and a clean heart. All you need is to keep quietly alert, enquiring into the real nature of yourself. This is the only way to peace.
JK: Just observe your anger or your greed, or your competitiveness, without creating the opposite. Observe it non-verbally because the verbal division is as important as the emotional division. Observe non-verbally, and there is a possibility of ending violence. Not tomorrow – immediately.”
