SPACE FOR A CHANGE.

~ Decades ago, in an early and sincere search bordering on despair and desperation, I slipped away from it all in Canada, took a supposed year off and moved to Europe. Part of that wandering led me to live on a tiny, untouristed island in Greece called Lipsi where I began to, as the story goes, ‘find myself’ in an unfamiliar peace and quiet. The research vehicle was deep spiritual reading and, most importantly, exploratory writing. Then and there, sitting on a porch overlooking the harbor, I began my one and only novel called ‘The Last Ideal’ and poured my heart and head into it daily.
Fast forward to today, sitting home writing this by my window on Canada’s Vancouver Island. The dusty manuscript languishes in a box in a closet along with the notion that the Last Ideal which I then so earnestly believed could reveal ‘The Truth’ I sought, has no truth to tell. 😉 That said, the space then, as now, opened new horizons way beyond all mind-made ideals. That genesis of change ‘happened’ in the quiet space of apparently ‘doing’, and actually ‘finding’, nothing. In truth, I began to learn nothing is important.
The importance of no thing.
No thing “I” could conceive or believe was, or ever could be, the truth, aka, the ‘reality’, I personally sought: that is the direct awareness of the timeless non-personal nature of one’s being. Indeed, the truth is nothing personal – not something someone somehow, comes to know.
I’ll end the telling of this tale with this observation: if one is sincerely seeking, and does not ever believe that one is an entity that now or will, with effort and time, come to know ‘the truth’ (there being in fact no knower) then one may well find one is it.
In seeking, one may find that one is, and not begin to know what one is! In fine, seeking as discovering is as infinite as awareness; it’s never ending, like beauty, peace and joy.
Love leads and love follows, yes. Let love do the heavy lifting. Enjoy being it. 😉
