THE BEAUTY IN SEEING AND BEING WHAT IS.

On waking most mornings since I was a young boy, my eye lids have been crusted a little such that I’ve often had to bathe them for a moment with warm water to clear my vision. Literally for me, and also metaphorically, water is an ancient symbol for ‘truth’, and usefully good to bathe the inner eyes with too, yes. 😊
This morning I’m sitting at my sunny window having a cuppa green tea and scanning a few subject-line e-mails I sent to myself this past week. And wondering if perhaps they’ll inspire and make good swabs to clarify inner vision in my writing today? Well, I don’t know; let’s see what happens! Perhaps you’ll be moved to comment too.
~ Nisargadatta says that mind exists in two states: as water, easily shaken and disturbed, and as honey, moveable but not often disturbed. Indeed, this week, and presently, there’s a light ‘honey’ quality of mind and there’s a resting well and truly in awareness – except when there isn’t! Sometimes – one never knows! – if I stumble upon the ‘News Of The Day’ on my computer, there’s lots and lots of disturbance; it passes like a storm agitates the surface waters of one’s being for a few moments or maybe a few hours 😉 when, as normal, quietude arises, the waves settle back into simply being. That ‘being’ is our common, openly attentive, restful and gentle nature. There’s no control or need to control; one never knows whither the winds of the mind may blow, and that’s OK. Peace abides.
~ Thought, like tunnel vision, implies time, becoming, achieving; absent belief in it, one lives timelessly in being, here, now. Indeed, psychologically speaking, thought is time, time, thought. Absent thoughts, believed, (engaged) one rests in attending this that is actually happening, apparently; in a flowing, usually mild, curiosity and delight.
~ There is a listening, a learning, a seeing without knowledge, without knowing. In fine, there’s a loving of what’s going on; a marveling that anything and everything is, and a subtle easeful wondering without needing; a caring that’s carefree, yes.
~ Observe without the word, naming, knowing; in empty silence, reality presents. Of course, the mind moves as it will and must, but one can, say, out on a hike in the woods, simply see the naming activity, let it be and wisely look thru and beyond it with a spacious not-knowing; a relaxed watching that’s not- believing – a freeing and allowing that’s not a doing but which arises out of attentive being.
~ J Krishnamurti notes that love and compassion is intelligence and that intelligence acts. In fact, all one is and all one apparently does in aware living is to live and flow in and as that which one is: intelligence. Indeed, intelligence is awareness, awareness, love.
~ At bottom, silence lies in not-knowing. In that total emptiness, grace in being peace, beauty, love and joy, presents. 😊
