The end of the story.

There’s a common thread with different colors in our spiritual sojourning it seems. Apparently, most – if not all – of us have glimpsed and been astonished by the eternal and been painfully persuaded, pushed and prodded by our conditioning with its suffering. 🙂
In my story, I believed my mind would supply the answer to the question I became obsessed with and which powerfully propelled me in my early forties to “Find the Truth”. I spent decades of devoted seeking in extensive daily studies and travels to spiritual centers of the Ancient Greek, Western and Eastern teachings; they brought a ‘me’ lots of knowledge but no real understanding and peace.
To make a long story short: one day in 2006 – as the story goes – I happened to go to an Adyashanti satsang in Berkeley California. After my first ever quiet sitting, aka ‘meditation’, Adya began speaking; at some point, there was a sudden, timelessly graced recognition that was directly heard when he said: “You are not your body…you are not your mind.” That instant awakening rocked ‘my’ identity profoundly and permanently; it led to many more discoveries and an ever expanding self-knowing which abides. There’s a constant aware learning in each moment, and a peace in loving the beauty – the real miracle – of simply being. A knowing that I am without knowing what I am.
Love, and be well. 🙂
