THE LAST FRONTIER.
There remains, for some if not most of us, one last frontier – one’s inner nature; an all-consuming, vigilant, interior pursuit into the heart of being, of existence, of that alone which leads to contentment. That inner frontier is pointed towards perhaps with ideals, with poetic and delicate prose, with religious words about words, in a peripheral sense. Still, that door is not entered into by any symbolism, ideology, technique, or intensive mental enquiry – all may but serve to point, to introduce one to One, to the reality of Reality. In that direct inner knowing, there is nothing else to believe or conceive; lacking that inner knowing beyond all understanding, one lacks all. In knowing oneself, one is presented with the totally life-changing reengagement and innocence (unknowing) of a child; with the whole, the real, the being of love, born and unborn, aware, alive.
One’s being nature is beyond the known, the supposedly tried and true, the conceived and believed, the personalized renderings of experience, of life, with it labels that seem to know, to control, to assuage one’s insecurities, one’s actually, factually, in truth, not knowing; one’s inventing, pretending, contending and defending from fear.
In fine, one fears not the unknown so much as the known – the believed to be, the feared to be. The entirety of all that false imagining is instantly abandoned, dissolved in the clarity of self-knowing, in the recognition that one infinitely IS that which words like peace, beauty, love and joy suggest, but cannot touch upon that reality they merely represent. That which all humanity longs for; that for which one may be graced to seek and to find – the living wholeness of being beyond knowing. Love, so to speak. 🙂
