WHERE SEEING HAS NO CENTER.

~ An insightful poem by Heloisa Moura 😉
“In pure seeing, there is no seer apart from the seen.”
Jean Klein
~* The Seeing Without a Seer.
Look at what is here
before the mind names it.
A color appears.
A sound arises.
Light touches the eyes.
There is seeing.
Then thought says,
I am seeing this.
A seer is created.
An observer seems to stand
behind the eyes,
looking outward
at a world.
But where is this seer
before the thought of it?
Can you find a boundary
between seeing
and what is seen?
Look without searching.
The tree does not stand
apart from the seeing of it.
The sound does not travel
toward a separate listener.
A sensation does not need
someone behind it
to be felt.
There is simply
the immediacy of experience.
The mind divides
what is whole.
It creates the one who sees
and the thing that is seen.
But in pure seeing,
the division is absent.
Nothing stands between
awareness and appearance.
No observer needs
to step forward.
No witness needs
to claim the experience.
Seeing is complete
without a seer.
The seen is complete
without being possessed.
For a moment,
let the division fall silent.
What remains?
Not a state.
Not a special experience.
Only this open intimacy
in which seeing
and the seen
are not two.
